During the first Test match between India and Bangladesh at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah reached an important milestone.

On day three, Bumrah claimed his first wicket in Bangladesh's second innings, making him the highest wicket-taker in international cricket for the year, surpassing Hong Kong's Ehsan Khan.

In 2024, Bumrah has secured a total of 47 wickets across 14 international matches. This includes 32 wickets from 12 innings in six Test matches and 15 wickets in eight T20 games. He hasn't participated in any One Day Internationals (ODIs) this year.

As of 2024, Jasprit Bumrah leads the way in international cricket with 47 wickets. Close behind is Hong Kong's Ehsan Khan with 46, followed by Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga at 43, and Australia's Josh Hazlewood with 41.

In the first innings of the IND vs BAN Test in Chennai, Bumrah took four wickets, dismissing Shadman Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Hasan Mahmood, and Taskin Ahmed. His outstanding performance helped restrict Bangladesh to just 149 runs in that innings.
