Soccer Women's Super League (WSL)
Posted 2 months agoManchester United kicked off their Women's Super League season with a solid win against West Ham at Old Trafford.
The hosts aimed for a stronger season after finishing fifth last year, and they showed impressive form on Saturday with fluid play in the final third.
They opened the scoring when West Ham's Camilla Saez mishandled the ball near the byline, allowing Geyse to seize the opportunity and fire it past goalkeeper Kinga Szemik.
Deservedly in the lead, United maintained their dominance with clever plays, leading to Leah Galton’s second goal—a beautifully curled shot following a solo run.
United had more chances, with Elisabeth Terland’s shot cleared off the line, Galton hitting the crossbar, and Geyse's acrobatic attempt striking the woodwork as well.
After the break, they continued to control the game. A defensive slip from West Ham left Grace Clinton unmarked to head in a delivery from Lisa Naalsund.
