Heartbreak for Fleetwood as Scheffler Snatches Olympic Gold.

Great Britain's Tommy Fleetwood claimed Olympic silver in men's golf, narrowly missing out on gold to American world number one Scottie Scheffler in a thrilling finish.

On a tense final day in Paris, Tommy Fleetwood was tied with Scottie Scheffler at 19 under par going into the 17th hole. A bogey after missing the green and over-hitting a chip left Fleetwood trailing Scheffler, who shot a course record-equalling nine-under 62.

Fleetwood, 33, also misjudged his approach on the 18th hole while attacking, ending with a par and securing the silver medal. Despite shooting a fantastic 66, Fleetwood showed a mix of disappointment and joy as fans chanted his name.

"Part of me is disappointed, of course, but at the same time, I never dreamed I'd be an Olympic medallist," said Fleetwood. "I'm still unbelievably proud and happy with the way the week went. I'm proud of the way I played today."

Japan's Hideki Matsuyama took bronze at 17 under. Home favorite Victor Perez finished fourth at 16 under, just ahead of Rory McIlroy of Ireland and Spain's Jon Rahm.
