Greaves Declines PDC Worlds Spot Following Matchplay Triumph.

Beau Greaves has announced she won't compete in the PDC World Championship after successfully defending her Women's World Matchplay title.

Beau Greaves described the notion of challenging the top men at Alexandra Palace as "silly."

The 20-year-old showcased her skills at Blackpool's Winter Gardens, defeating Fallon Sherrock 6-3 in the Women’s World Matchplay final.

After a 2-2 tie, Greaves surged ahead, averaging 98.75 and breaking Sherrock’s throw four times to secure the win.

Beau Greaves won £10,000 for her victory and expressed a desire for more investment in the women’s game. Though she competed in the 2023 PDC World Championship, she lost in the first round and didn’t enjoy the experience.

"I don’t think we’re ready to compete with players like Luke Humphries or Michael van Gerwen," Greaves said. "It feels like a losing battle before I even start."

She added that she finds the women's game more meaningful and is realistic about her chances in mixed tournaments.

Earlier in the day at Blackpool, Greaves reached the semi-finals with a 4-1 win over Katie Sheldon.
