From Supermarket Rejection to 'The Kent Golovkin': A Fighter's Journey.

Some boxers are built differently. Sam Noakes, a lightweight from Maidstone and British, Commonwealth, and European champion, is now closing in on a shot at world titles.

With 13 knockouts in 14 wins, 27-year-old Sam Noakes has an almost flawless record. But when his world title shot comes, he isn't looking for an easy fight.

"I know it sounds strange, but I'd love a tough battle—maybe get knocked down and come back to win," Noakes told BBC Sport. "I want it to feel like a Rocky movie."

Noakes is set to defend his European title for the first time against Italy's Gianluca Ceglia at York Hall on Friday.

"Hopefully, I'll get a world title shot next year," he says. "For now, it's all about keeping up the wins."
