Former Players Vie for Role as India's New Bowling Coach.

Former Indian cricket stars Zaheer Khan and Lakshmipathy Balaji are currently in contention for the coveted role of the men's national team bowling coach, according to reports from ANI.

Both seasoned veterans bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table, having showcased their bowling prowess during their playing days.

As the selection process unfolds, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await to see who will be entrusted with shaping India's future bowling talent at the highest level of the sport.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently deliberating over the names of Zaheer Khan and Lakshmipathy Balaji as potential replacements for the current bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey.

On Tuesday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced that Gautam Gambhir, a former World Cup winner, has assumed the role of head coach for the Men in Blue.

According to a source from the board speaking to ANI, the BCCI is currently considering Zaheer Khan and Lakshmipathy Balaji for the position of bowling coach. However, the source indicated that the board is not pursuing the candidacy of Vinay Kumar for this role.

Zaheer Khan is a trailblazing fast bowler in Indian cricket, boasting a career that spanned 92 Tests, 200 ODIs, and 17 T20Is. Throughout his international tenure, he claimed an impressive tally of 610 wickets.

Notably, Zaheer was a key figure in India's victorious World Cup campaign in 2011, where he emerged as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 22 scalps under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.
