Great Britain's Tommy Fleetwood moved into medal contention in the Olympic men's golf event with a second-round 64, while Rory McIlroy struggled to make a charge at Le Golf National in Paris.
Fleetwood finished with a bogey but carded six birdies and an eagle, joining Japan's Hideki Matsuyama and American Xander Schauffele at 11 under par at the halfway mark of the 72-hole competition.
McIlroy had a frustrating day, posting a two-under 69 and leaving him six shots behind the leaders. His round included an eagle, four birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey.
Overnight leader Matsuyama reached 13 under despite two bogeys, but a double-bogey on the last hole dropped him from the lead.
World number two Schauffele, who has won two majors this year, recorded seven birdies and two bogeys for a five-under 66.
Spain's Jon Rahm, a two-time major winner, sits in fourth place at nine under after improving his opening 67 by one shot.
