Fils Advances After Hurkacz Retires on Match Point.

Arthur Fils advanced to the third round at Wimbledon after seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz retired on match point.

Poland's Hubert Hurkacz suffered an injury while leading 8-7 in a fourth-set tie-break and chose to retire after losing the next two points.

Arthur Fils, aged 20, secured his spot in the next round with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, 2-6, 6-6 (9-8) victory. He will next face Russian Roman Safiullin, who defeated Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic in four sets.

Fils made history as the youngest player to defeat a top-10 opponent in men's singles at SW19 since Nick Kyrgios defeated Rafael Nadal in 2014.

In other matches, Australian Alex de Minaur and France's Gael Monfils also advanced.

De Minaur, seeded ninth, defeated Spain's Jaume Munar 6-2, 6-2, 7-5, while Monfils beat Swiss three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).
