Denver Nuggets claimed narrow victory over the Charlotte Hornets in an NBA encounter.

Nikola Jokic's 40 points and a career-high 27 rebounds helped Denver Nuggets to smash out the Charlotte Hornets by 119-115 in an NBA encounter.

Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokic set a career high with 27 rebounds including a franchise record 20 in the first half along with 40 points and 10 assists for his fifth triple-double of the season.

The 20 rebounds in one half are tied for the second most in NBA history going back to 1996-97. Kevin Love holds the record with 22 in a half.

The only other player in NBA history was Wilt Chamberlain, who secured at least 40 points, 27 rebounds and 10 assists in an NBA game. He did it four times, the last when he had 53 points, 32 rebounds and 14 assists for Philadelphia on March 18, 1968.

During the game, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 20 points and Aaron Gordon had 19 as the Nuggets sent the Hornets to their eighth consecutive loss.

LaMelo Ball had 31 points for Charlotte. Kelly Oubre Jr. added 16 points and Gordon Hayward had 15.
