Commonwealth Games: Shiva Thapa and Amit Panghal Secure Place In Indian Team.

After the outstanding performance and win in the trials World championship medalists Amit Panghal and Shiva Thapa manages themselves in the Indian boxing team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Amit Panghal, the 2019 world championship silver medalist, secured his place in the 51kg division, while Shiva Thapa bagged the 63.5kg spot in the trials held at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports.

The Commonwealth Games is set to be held in Birmingham from July 28 to August 8.

The other six boxers who made their way into the Indian team include 2018 bronze medalist Mohammad Hussamuddin (57kg), Rohit Tokas (67kg), reigning national champion Sumit (75kg), Ashish Kumar (80kg), Sanjeet (92kg) and Sagar (92kg+).

Amit Panghal clinched the place by defeating Deepak by 4-1 via a split decision while Thapa after defeating Manish Kaushik(2018 CWG silver medalist) by 5-0 secured his place in Indian Team.
