Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams is set for an extended recovery after undergoing back surgery.
Adams joined Bournemouth for over £20m from Leeds last summer but had a tough debut season, playing only four Premier League matches due to injuries.
He later represented the USA in the Copa America, despite concerns from Bournemouth about his condition. Adams played in all three group games and a friendly against Brazil, including a full 90 minutes in the final match against Uruguay, where the USA exited early.
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola revealed that Adams aggravated a pre-existing back issue during the season, and surgery was the only option. "He finished the season with back pain. He wanted to play in Copa America, but he had restrictions and was still hurting. Two days after their exit, he had the surgery," said Iraola.
