Arsenal showcased strong pre-season form with a 4-1 victory over German champions Bayer Leverkusen at Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal, in their first home game since last season, quickly went 2-0 up with goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko and Leandro Trossard. Gabriel Jesus made it 3-0 before halftime, taking advantage of a poor throw-in by Leverkusen.
Bukayo Saka set up the fourth goal, which Granit Xhaka inadvertently helped Kai Havertz score. Leverkusen, unbeaten in last season's Bundesliga, got a late goal from Adam Hlozek.
Arsenal will play at home again on Sunday against Lyon in the Emirates Cup.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa won 3-2 against Athletic Bilbao at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium, with Cameron Archer scoring a late winner.
