Kapil Dev one of the greatest all-rounder of India
India's greatest all-rounder was born on 6-January-1959 in Chandigarh.
Kapil's biggest motivator was his mother, who pushed him to the ground to practice and took care of his diet.
Kapil Dev started his career at the age of 19 and that too against Pakistan, his Test debut was unfortunately not an impressive one. But in the third Test match of the same series in 1978, he scored a blistering half-century in 33 balls.
He scored his maiden Test cricket century against West Indies at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi in just 124 balls. On his first tour to England, he took his first 5 wicket haul.
Kapil Dev is the only player to score 4000 runs and take 400 wickets in Test cricket. His 5248 runs included eight centuries, his 434 wickets were a world record at the time, and he captained India when they won the 1983 World Cup.
Kapil is considered the first fast bowler of Team India. He still holds the record of being the youngest cricket captain to win the Cricket World Cup.
