Vingegaard's Optimism: Pursuing Tour Participation Despite Injury Setback.

Jonas Vingegaard, the reigning Tour de France champion, expressed his optimism about returning to peak fitness to compete for a third consecutive title. Despite an injury setback, he remains determined to pursue victory in the upcoming race.

The 27-year-old Danish cyclist suffered injuries in a rare accident during a race in northern Spain, resulting in a broken collarbone, broken ribs, and a collapsed lung.

"I'm feeling better every day," he mentioned. "I really hope to be ready for the Tour de France, but it's hard to predict how my recovery will go."

The Tour is set to kick off in Florence, Italy, on June 29.

Vingegaard, who won the Tour in 2022 by surpassing Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar, shared in a video posted by his team, "This is my first time back on the road since the accident. It feels great to ride normally again, and I'm excited to progress further."

Before the crash during the Itzulia Basque Country stage race, where he was injured alongside other top riders like Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel, Vingegaard had been in excellent form in the early season.
