Notable Speech Shines in Turf Debut, Secures 2,000 Guineas Victory.

Notable Speech had a remarkable debut on turf by winning the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, which is the first major race of the Flat season.

At 16-1 odds, Notable Speech, ridden by William Buick and trained by Charlie Appleby, pulled off a surprise win in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket. Despite having won three times on all-weather tracks earlier in the year, this was his first time racing on turf.

He crossed the finish line a length and a half ahead of Rosallion (15-2), becoming the first horse since 1938 to win this Classic without racing as a two-year-old. The favorite, City Of Troy, trained by Aidan O'Brien, fell back quickly and finished far from the top.

This victory marked Buick's first win in this race, having been placed six times before. Appleby celebrated his second success after Coroebus in 2022.

Buick, thrilled with the win, said, "I've had so much belief in him. It was incredible, and everything went perfectly."

During the race, Buick kept Notable Speech towards the rear as City Of Troy took an early lead. They steadily moved up and overtook Rosallion in the final stretch, finishing strong to secure an impressive win.
