Actor Will Ferrell Set to Join Ranks of Leeds Investors.

Legendary Hollywood actor Will Ferrell is stepping into the world of sports investment by joining the ranks of celebrity backers for Championship club Leeds United.

BBC Radio Leeds revealed that Will Ferrell's investment in Leeds United is a small stake, and he won't have decision-making authority at Elland Road.

The club came under the ownership of 49ers Enterprises last summer in a £170 million takeover deal.

Another famous actor, Russell Crowe, has a stake in Leeds as well, although his involvement is external, dating back to his consideration of buying the club in 2015.

Leeds' current owners, linked to the San Francisco 49ers NFL franchise, have attracted investments from several US sports figures, including golfers Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.

Will Ferrell, known for his roles in movies like Elf and Anchorman, is a passionate sports enthusiast and also co-owns the Major League Soccer team Los Angeles FC.

Ferrell's interest in football extends beyond just investing. He attended a game involving Wrexham, owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and also visited Anfield for a Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton.

Leeds ended up in third place in the Championship after a loss to Southampton last Saturday, setting up a two-leg playoff against Norwich City.

The victors will then go head-to-head with either Southampton or West Brom at Wembley on May 26th for a shot at securing a spot in the Premier League. This opportunity is particularly significant for Leeds, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
