Former Zimbabwe batsman Brendan Taylor admitted to taking money from an Indian businessman for spot-fixing. Taylor said he was invited to India under the guise of discussing the possible launch of a "T20 tournament" in his country where he had been driven to take drugs during a celebration the night before.

In reply, India were all out for 283 in 49.2 overs, chasing down a completely misguided chase that should have easily been completed. South Africa have been fined 20 percent of their match fee for slow over-rate during the 2nd ODI of a 3-match series against India at the Boland Park in Paarl on Friday. Match referee Andy Pycroft ruled Temba Bavuma's side one over short of the target after taking time allowances into account. After the second ODI Temba Bavuma pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the proposed sanction, hence the formal sanction. There was no need for a hearing.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is trying its best to organize the tournament in India itself. BCCI has identified UAE and South Africa as back-up venues. "I am happy to confirm that the 15th season of the IPL will begin in the last week of March and will continue till the end of May," BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement.

Afghanistan and New Zealand are also in England's group along with Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and South Africa in Group Two of the Super 12 stage. Four teams from the preliminary stage - including Scotland, Sri Lanka and the West Indies and starting on 16 October - will qualify for automatic qualifiers. Australia's first Super 12 match will take place on October 22 against the Kiwis. England will start their campaign against Afghanistan in Perth on the same day, while India will play Pakistan in Melbourne on 23 October. The final will also take place in Melbourne on 13 November.

Pant reached his century in SA but surpassed Rahul Dravid for the highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper in an ODI. Pant put up a 115-run partnership with captain KL Rahul, hitting 10 fours and two sixes in his innings.

The India and West Indies matches, to be played from 6 to 20 February, were to be played at 6 different venues namely Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram. Due to the increasing cases of COVID-19, the BCCI committee has decided to conduct the India and West Indies ODI, Recommended to play T20 series only in Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
