Dominant Performance: Elena Rybakina Claims Abu Dhabi Open Title with Victory over Daria Kasatkina.

Top-seeded Elena Rybakina added another trophy to her collection, clinching her second title of the season with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 win over Daria Kasatkina at the Abu Dhabi Open.

Ranked fifth in the world, Rybakina began her year triumphantly by winning the Brisbane title. 

Now, with her seventh career trophy secured at the Abu Dhabi Open, she joins the second spot on the match-wins leaderboard, boasting a total of 11 victories in 2024.

A sprinkle of light rain added some excitement towards the end of the match, briefly interrupting the final game as Rybakina held a commanding lead of 6-1, 5-4, with the score tied at 30/30. 

Players were asked to wait on their benches momentarily. However, the delay was short-lived as the 2022 Wimbledon champion swiftly sealed the victory with two strong serves, closing out the match at the 68-minute mark.

Kasatkina has now lost her last four consecutive finals –- including two this year in Adelaide and Abu Dhabi -– and remains in search of a first title triumph since 2022.
