World champion Noah Lyles speedily crossed Erriyon Knighton to win the men's 200 meters in 19.67 seconds at the U.S. Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Olympic bronze medalist Lyles denied the 18-year-old a spot on the podium in Tokyo and had clearly did not allow the youngster to cross him and win in Eugene.
American fan-sensation Sha'Carri Richardson failed to move on in the women's 100 meters at the trials for U.S. championships. Richardson's start was quite rough and slow which she could not recover throughout which results, ending her hopes of competing in the event at the World Championships.
Shara Proctor the British long jumper who won the silver medal at Beijing 2015, made the decision to retire from active competition as a long jumper. She has been with the British Olympic team since 2011.
