Yuzuru Hanyu, Japan's male figure skater announced his retirement.

Japanese all-time great figure skater icon Yuzuru Hanyu announced his retirement which marks the end of a stellar career from competition.

Though retiring from all sorts of competition, Yuzuru Hanyu stated that he would continue his career as a professional athlete.

Looking back to his winning panel, Yuzuru Hanyu won two world championships, four Grand Prix Final wins and six national championships including last year's, which he won to punch his ticket to Beijing.

He clinched his second Olympic in PyeongChang and became the first man in 66 years to win back-to-back as singles champion at the Olympics.

Hanyu was awarded with People's Honor Award, the highest honor awarded to a civilian in Japan.
