Yoshihito Nishioka edged out Dan Evans in the Korea Open.

Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka scripted his sixth victory from six meetings against British number two Dan Evans at the Korea Open in Seoul.

Nishioka knocked out Evans by 6-2 7-6(3) breaking him four times along the way.

Dan Evans had already lost to Nishioka twice this year, in Miami and Washington, and he made the worst possible start by dropping serve in the first game.

The American, who is seeded eighth in Seoul, Jenson Brooksby produced a magnificent performance and sealed victory over qualifier Wu Tung-Lin by 7-6, 3-6, 6-0 in the first-round of the ATP 250 event.

Mackenzie McDonald and Steve Johnson both progressed with straight sets victories, while world number 82 set up a clash with third seed Taylor Fritz.
