Worcestershire Honors Baker by Retiring Jersey Number 33.

Worcestershire has retired the number 33 shirt in honor of Josh Baker, the club's left-arm spinner who passed away earlier this year at the age of 20.

Baker, a former England Under-19 international, passed away unexpectedly in May while playing in a second XI match against Somerset at Bromsgrove School.

In his memory, the Worcestershire first team wore the number 33 on their shirts during their first County Championship match after his death, which was against Kent at Canterbury.

"Josh was not only an exceptional cricketer but also a remarkable person," said Worcestershire chief executive Ashley Giles on the club's website.

"His loss has created an irreplaceable void in our club and in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Retiring the number 33 shirt—something we’ve never done before—ensures his memory and contributions will always be honored. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations."
