Why the Global Anti-Doping Agency Is Torn Between US and China.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) claims it is "unfairly caught" in the dispute between the US and China, with their geopolitical tensions affecting the Olympic arena.

China's top swimmers have faced intense scrutiny amid doping allegations, with the US accusing WADA of covering it up.

As a result, Chinese swimmers heading to Paris were tested for drugs twice as often as some other athletes, sparking claims of a conspiracy to undermine their performance.

WADA stated that it is "caught in the middle" of US-China tensions and does not have a role in these geopolitical disputes.

James Fitzgerald, WADA’s head of media relations, criticized US individuals for trying to gain political advantage by targeting Chinese athletes, which has led to increased distrust in the anti-doping system.

The broader geopolitical tensions between the US and China, exacerbated by trade conflicts and China's ties with Russia, are now impacting competitive sports. Recently, WADA even considered legal action against the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) over "defamatory" allegations.
