US Open: USTA permits Russian and Belarusian players to participate.

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) declared to permit the Russian and Belarusian tennis players to complete in this year's US Open despite the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Further the board said that athletes from Russia and Belarus will play at grass-court under a neutral flag.

Since Russia began its attacks on Ukraine in February, Russian athletes have been banned from taking part in many sports, including soccer’s

World Cup qualifying playoffs. As well as Belarus have been prevented in taking part as Belarus supported Russia in the war.

The All England Club, declared in April that all Russians and Belarusians will be banned from its fields, which means Russia’s Daniil Medvedev currently  ranked No. 1 tennis player, is not eligible to participate. Daniil is the defending champion at the U.S. Open.

USTA confronted that " the association will allow individual athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete in the 2022 US Open, but only under a neutral flag."
