Just over eight months ago, doctors told Bubby Upton that there was a possibility she might never walk again.

Just months ago, Bubby Upton faced a serious challenge after falling off her horse at home in August, resulting in multiple broken vertebrae and paralysis on her right side.

After a complex seven-hour surgery, Bubby's future was uncertain. "The surgeon couldn't guarantee if I'd walk or ride again," she shared with BBC Sport.

However, through determination and successful recovery, by November, she was tentatively trotting and riding again by early 2024. This week, she's competing at the prestigious Badminton Horse Trials, leading in the dressage test after the first day.

Reflecting on her journey, Bubby expressed immense gratitude, saying, "I know I'm incredibly fortunate."
