UEFA Shakes Up the Race: 2027 Champions League Final Bidding Reopened.

UEFA has relaunched the bidding process for stadiums to host the 2027 Champions League final, following the decision to take the event away from Milan.

The iconic San Siro was slated to host the much-anticipated final, but UEFA pulled the plug when Milan officials couldn't guarantee that ongoing redevelopment wouldn't disrupt the grand event.

In an exciting twist, AC Milan and Inter Milan are now contemplating a brand-new stadium in the San Siro neighborhood, potentially paving the way for a fresh chapter in football history.

Fans can look forward to the announcement of the new venue for the 2027 final, set to be revealed in May or June 2025, sparking speculation about which stadium will rise to the occasion!

The UEFA Executive Committee made a key decision during their meeting on Tuesday, which also included updates to the organization’s solidarity funding.

The "big five" European leagues—Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A, and Bundesliga—will now have their solidarity payments capped at €10 million (£8.3 million) per season until the end of the 2026-27 season. This marks a €1.5 million increase from the previous cycle, with a total of €308 million (£256.3 million) available to share, compared to €177.2 million (£147.4 million) before.

These funds are intended to support clubs that don’t participate in European competitions, promoting competitive balance in Europe’s top leagues. UEFA noted that these funds help address the revenue disparities caused by clubs competing in European tournaments.

Additionally, UEFA approved its women’s football strategy for 2024 to 2030 during the meeting, though specific details about this plan have yet to be announced.
