Two-Year Ban for Players Who Withdraw from IPL.

Players who withdraw from the Indian Premier League on short notice will face a two-year ban from participating in the next two seasons.

This new rule has been implemented in the world’s most lucrative T20 franchise league.

The rule will apply to any player who signs up for the auction, is selected, and then withdraws before the season begins. However, there will be an exemption for those citing "injury or medical condition."

This year, England players Gus Atkinson, Mark Wood, David Willey, and Harry Brook were among those who withdrew from the IPL.

In exciting updates for the IPL, teams can now retain up to six players from their current roster for the 2025 season.

Ahead of next year's tournament, a 'mega auction' will take place—these larger auctions are held every three years and are expected to bring significant changes to team lineups.

Additionally, for the first time, a match fee of 7.5 lakh rupees (£6,700) will be introduced, adding to player salaries.

Last year, Australia’s left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc made headlines as the most expensive signing in the tournament’s history, joining Kolkata Knight Riders for an astonishing 24.75 crore Indian rupees (£2.3 million). With these changes, the upcoming season promises to be thrilling and full of surprises!
