Jannik Sinner expressed that winning the US Open is incredibly meaningful to him, especially after a tough time dealing with controversy from his positive tests for a banned substance.
The world number one surged to victory over Taylor Fritz in the US Open final, securing his second Grand Slam of the year.
Just days before the tournament, it was announced that Jannik Sinner had been cleared of wrongdoing after testing positive for a banned substance earlier in the year. The International Tennis Integrity Agency determined that he had been unintentionally contaminated by his physiotherapist, Giacomo Naldi.
Sinner, reflecting on his win, said, "This title means a lot to me because the recent period has been tough. The investigation is still on my mind, but I focus on handling it well on court. I’m thrilled to have this trophy with me."
