World No. 1 Jannik Sinner powered past Taylor Fritz to win the US Open, claiming his second Grand Slam title this year.
Italy's Jannik Sinner, who claimed his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January, fended off a strong late challenge from American 12th seed Taylor Fritz to win 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 at the US Open.
This victory comes just weeks after Sinner was cleared of any wrongdoing following two positive tests for a banned substance in March.
The 23-year-old celebrated with arms raised, becoming the first player since Guillermo Vilas in 1977 to win his first two Grand Slam titles in a single season, and the first Italian man to win the US Open.
Sinner, emotional after the win, dedicated the title to his ailing aunt, saying, "This means so much because the last part of my career has been tough. My aunt is not well, and I don’t know how much longer I have her in my life."
