England's Charley Hull fired an impressive five-under-par 67, putting her in the lead after the first round of the Women's Open at St Andrews.
Charley Hull, 28, delivered a strong performance at the Old Course, recording four birdies on the back nine to secure a one-stroke lead over American Nelly Korda and China's Ruoning Yin.
Hull, who is aiming for her first major title after finishing as runner-up in both the Women's Open and Women's US Open last year, expressed confidence in her game.
"I've been working hard on my game this year, and I feel confident," Hull told BBC Sport. "I'm enjoying every moment—playing at St Andrews is a special experience, and I'm grateful to be out there, having fun, and inspiring young kids."
Hull excelled in a competitive group, playing alongside world number one Korda and defending Women's Open champion Lilia Vu.
After reaching the turn at one under with two birdies and a bogey, Hull's strong back nine in windy conditions helped her overtake Yin, who had led for much of the day.
