Trailblazer Fox Achieves Enchanting Double Gold in Paris.

At one point, it seemed like Olympic gold was a distant dream for Jessica Fox, a goal that kept slipping through her fingers despite her relentless efforts.

Australian canoeist Jessica Fox has defied the odds to secure her third consecutive Olympic gold, rewriting history with a bid for a rare treble at Paris 2024.

Born in France, Fox, 30, dazzled at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, outclassing her rivals. She retained her canoe single (C1) title with a stunning performance, finishing 2.48 seconds ahead of Germany's Elena Lilik, even with a two-second penalty for hitting a gate.

This victory came just days after her kayak single (K1) triumph, ending a long wait for gold in that event. In her first three Olympic finals, Fox missed out on gold by a mere six seconds combined in a sport where fractions of a second matter.

In Paris, she made history as the first athlete to win two canoe slalom gold medals at the same Games, marking her sixth Olympic podium – a record in her sport.

With her sixth individual medal, Fox is now Australia's most decorated Olympian, surpassing legends like Ian Thorpe, Leisel Jones, Anna Meares, and Shirley Strickland.
