Tiger Woods, a 15-time major champion, has undergone more back surgery following a challenging season marred by injuries.
Tiger Woods had microdecompression surgery on his lower back for nerve impingement on Friday morning in Florida. The surgeon reported the procedure was successful.
Woods, 48, who last played at The Open in July and missed the cut, hopes the surgery will reduce the back pain and spasms he’s had this year. He’s had several back surgeries over the past decade and a limited schedule since a serious car crash in 2021.
“The surgery went smoothly,” Woods said. “I’m hopeful it will relieve the pain I’ve been experiencing and I’m looking forward to rehab and returning to normal activities, including golf.”
