The Cricket World Cup's semifinal race unfolds, who stands where?

The biggest cricket tournament of the year, the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup is halfway through and the excitement is at its peak.

With only 19 league matches remaining, the pressure to perform well has intensified as the Semi-Finals approach. Each team is vying for a spot at the top of the points table so that they can qualify for the semis.

After five matches each, six wins out of nine in the round-robin stage can be considered a safe bet, while seven wins virtually guarantee a spot in the knockout stage.

At present, India is the closest to achieving the six-win mark, having won all five of their matches.

In contrast, England and Pakistan, two prominent cricketing nations, find themselves at risk of an early exit.

They face must-win situations against India and South Africa, respectively, in their upcoming matches to keep their hopes of reaching the semifinals alive.

Australia, despite starting with two losses, has made a remarkable comeback and currently holds the fourth spot.

Meanwhile, South Africa remains strong at No. 2, while New Zealand occupies the third position, with their only loss so far coming against India.

The top four performing teams on the points table are the most likely to qualify for the semi-finals. The expected teams are:

India (five wins, no losses) NRR at the moment (+1.353)

South Africa (five wins, one loss) NRR at the moment (+2.370)

New Zealand (four wins, one loss) NRR at the moment (+1.481)

Australia (three wins, two losses) NRR at the moment (+1.481)
