Two-time Grand Slam champion and former long-time women's world No1, Simona Halep has been officially banned for four years from playing following doping allegations.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said that Simona Halep had been accused of two doping offenses — failing a drug test during the 2022 US Open and for irregularities in her Athlete Biological Passport.
The Romanian, who triumphed at the All England Club in 2019, had been provisionally suspended since last October having tested positive for the blood-boosting drug roxadustat at the 2022 US Open.
