Swedish star Ludvig Aberg wins his maiden PGA Tour victory in the RSM Classic.

Rookie Ludvig Aberg's magnificent rise continued with his winning the RSM Classic, his maiden PGA Tour victory to go along with a DP World Tour win.

Aberg was a big problem for the field at the final event of the PGA Tour’s 2022-23 wraparound season, shooting 9-under 61 on Sunday at Sea Island Resort’s Seaside Course to win by four strokes over Canada’s Mackenzie Hughes.

Aberg, who won in September on the DP World Tour, claimed his first PGA Tour title in just his 11th start with a four-round total of 29-under 253, which tied the lowest 72-hole score in Tour history.

His 61-61 finish set the tour record for lowest closing 36 holes, beating by one the mark shared by Matt Jones at Kapalua in 2022 and Patrick Rodgers at Sea Island in 2019.

Aberg cemented his rising star status, which had been building with a victory in the DP World Tour's European Masters and a stellar performance in Europe's Ryder Cup victory over the United States in Italy in September.

"It's kind of beyond my dreams," Aberg said after birdies at three of the last four holes. "It's really cool. To first off play on the PGA Tour, I have a lot of people to thank for that. It's been so much fun, six months that I'll never forget.
