Sunny Edwards has accepted the challenge to fight American Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez in a world unification bout.

IBF titleholder Sunny Edwards has agreed and confirmed a challenge to fight against American Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez in a flyweight title unification fight later this year.

A date and venue for the fight is yet to be announced, but the fact this contest is going ahead will be enough to get fans excited ahead of a fight that will see two world champions reaching their peak go head-to-head.

Rodriguez, a 23-year-old who fights out of San Antonio, captured the vacant WBO flyweight title in April with a unanimous-decision victory over Cristian Gonzalez.

Edwards was last in action earlier this month when outclassed Andres Campos with a unanimous-decision win at Wembley Arena to retain his title.

The bout was Edwards' Matchroom debut, and now he, too, will step up in competition against a fellow elite fighter.
