St Helens snapped their longest-ever Super League losing streak with an eight-try victory over Hull FC, boosting their play-off prospects.
Lewis Dodd gave St Helens the lead after they had lost five straight matches, with Tommy Makinson adding his 186th career try to make it 10-0 at half-time, placing him seventh on the Super League’s all-time list.
Dodd scored again, and Daryl Clark extended the lead before Matt Whitley added another try after Brad Fash was sin-binned.
Agnatius Paasi and Burns further punished Hull, who managed to avoid a fourth shutout of the season with a late try from Jack Walker.
The win allowed St Helens to reclaim the Steve Prescott Cup, with a 102-6 aggregate score this season. It also lifted them to fourth place, securing a four-point cushion in the play-off spots, while Hull stayed 11th after their 17th league defeat.
