South Sudan Edges Out Great Britain in London Thriller.

South Sudan triumphed over Great Britain with an 84-81 victory at London's Copper Box Arena, as they gear up for their debut at the Paris Olympics.

Great Britain, unlike Royal Ivey's South Sudan team, did not qualify for the Paris Olympics and couldn't recover from recent losses to Portugal and Argentina.

South Sudan led a close game 44-42 at halftime, and the match remained tight throughout. Marial Shayok led the visitors with 27 points, with Bul Kuol adding 15.

South Sudan successfully defended GB's final attack to secure the win.

It was a special day for South Sudan Basketball Federation president Luol Deng, who returned to London, where he played for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics.

The second game of the Summer Series at the Copper Box Arena is on Sunday at 15:00 BST, featuring the Great Britain women's team against Germany.

South Sudan will face the United States at the O2 Arena on 20 July as they continue their Olympic preparations.

Basketball at the Paris Olympics will run from 27 July to 11 August.
