South Africa and Australia will face each other for five-match ODI series in September.

South Africa is all set to welcome Australia for three T20Is and five ODIs in August-September to kickstart their 2023-24 home season.

The schedule, confirmed by a Cricket South Africa release, will see the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban host each of the three T20Is on August 30, September 1, and September 3 respectively.

The two teams will then square off in a five-match ODI series that will serve as an important tune-up ahead of the marquee ODI World Cup in India in October-November.

The purpose of the upcoming tour is to make up for the Test series that was canceled in early 2021 due to Australia's withdrawal over Covid-19 concerns.

However, the schedule for this tour does not include any Test matches. It means that there will be an eight-year gap between Australia's Test matches on South African soil, with their next tour scheduled in 2026 as per the latest FTP.

It will be their penultimate opportunity to tune up for the ODI World Cup in a bilateral contest, with a further three one-dayers to be played against India before the tournament gets underway.
