Shakib Al Hasan Facing Charges Related to Alleged Murder Amid Bangladesh Protests.

Bangladesh cricket star Shakib Al Hasan has been charged with an alleged murder linked to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement protests in the country.

According to Cricbuzz, Shakib Al Hasan is one of 156 people accused in the murder of Mohammad Rubel, who was killed by a bullet on August 5 during protests in Dhaka's Adabor area.

Rubel, a garment worker, died on August 7 from his injuries.

His father, Rafiqul Islam, filed a complaint on August 22 with the Adabor police station.

The complaint names 154 local Awami League leaders and activists, including Shakib and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Shakib Al Hasan, a Member of Parliament from Magura-2, is currently not in Bangladesh. Earlier this month, he was playing cricket in Canada, leading the Bangla Tigers Mississauga in the Global T20 Canada. His last appearance for Bangladesh was in June during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

The 37-year-old all-rounder has played 67 Tests, 247 ODIs, and 167 T20Is for Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh cricket team is currently engaged in a Test series against Pakistan, with the first match underway and the second set to start on August 30.
