Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time Formula One champion, revealed that he struggled with depression for many years, starting from a young age.
In an interview with The Times, the 39-year-old spoke about the pressures of his racing career and the bullying he faced in school.
Hamilton, who began racing competitively at the age of six, shared that he has also faced depression as an adult and found it challenging to discuss his experiences.
In an interview published on Saturday, he explained, "The pressure of racing and struggling at school, along with bullying, made it hard for me. I had no one to talk to." He mentioned that he has battled mental health issues throughout his life, experiencing depression from around the age of 13 and facing tough times in his twenties.
Hamilton made his Formula One debut in 2007 at 21, becoming the series' first Black driver. He won his first championship the following year and matched Michael Schumacher's record of seven titles in 2020.
