Scotland's Jen Dodds and Bruce Mouat sealed their spot in the knockout stages of the World Mixed Doubles Championship.

Scotland's Jen Dodds and Bruce Mouat displayed a dominating performance and comfortably secured spot in the knockout stages of the World Mixed Doubles Championship.

Jen Dodds and Bruce Mouat made the quarter-finals with a game to spare after beating Hungary 7-6 and then seeing off fellow play-off contenders Australia 8-6.

The pair will take on the Czech Republic in their final group game on Thursday before bidding to qualify for Saturday's final in South Korea.

Dodds and Mouat won the championship in 2021 before Eve Muirhead and Bobby Lammie defended their title for Scotland last year.

In the morning encounter, they beat the Hungarian pair Linda Joo and Lorinc Tatar in a tight encounter 7-6 and then beat their playoff rivals Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt 8-6 in what was widely viewed as a make-or-break match.

The Scottish pair started strongly with four in the opening end but the Australians hit back to make it a close encounter.

In Group B leaders Japan are still unbeaten after Chiaki Matsumura and Yasumasa Tanida recorded a 7-3 win over Turkey.

In the knockout stage clash, the Scotland pair will face the United States after wins over Hungary, Australia, and the Czech Republic.
