Aryna Sabalenka will need to handle a lively New York crowd as she takes on local favorite Jessica Pegula in Saturday’s US Open final.
World number two Aryna Sabalenka is back in the US Open final for the second consecutive year. Last year, she struggled with the crowd’s intensity during her loss to American Coco Gauff, describing the noise as overwhelming.
This time, Sabalenka faces sixth seed Jessica Pegula, a New York native who will have strong local support.
Sabalenka, 26, reflects on past difficulties: "I wasn’t ready and got emotional. I hope one day I can hold that beautiful trophy."
The final starts at 21:00 BST, with commentary on BBC 5 Live and the BBC Sport website and app.
Despite being ranked second to Iga Swiatek, Sabalenka is considered one of the top Grand Slam players in the women’s game.
