Rugby league's governing body has banned transgender players from women's international competition until any further notice, following global swimming's decision to restrict transgender athlete's participation at an international level.
The IRL ( International Rugby League ) said in a statement that “Until further research is completed to enable the IRL to implement a formal transgender inclusion policy, male-to-female (transwomen) players are unable to play in the upcoming women's international rugby league matches.”
In the World Cup in England in October, the ban will be applicable on the participated teams which involves teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cook Islands, England, France, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
