Rooney Takes the Helm as Head Coach at Plymouth Argyle.

Plymouth Argyle, a team in the Championship, has named Wayne Rooney, the former England captain, as their new head coach.

Wayne Rooney, 38, has taken over as head coach at Plymouth Argyle, replacing Ian Foster who was dismissed on April 1 due to poor results.

This appointment marks Rooney's return to coaching since his departure from Birmingham City on January 2, where he had a turbulent tenure lasting less than three months with nine losses in 15 games.

Birmingham, previously in a Championship play-off position when Rooney arrived, was relegated to League One recently.

This role at Plymouth Argyle is Rooney's fourth head coach position, following stints at Derby County during financial challenges and a period with DC United in the United States.

Despite his managerial experience, including guiding Derby to Championship survival, Rooney faces a fresh challenge with Plymouth Argyle in the Championship.
