Three-time champion Primoz Roglic secured his first mountain stage win of this year's Vuelta a España, taking over the race leader’s red jersey.
Slovenian Primoz Roglic narrowly defeated Lennert van Eetvelt (Lotto Dstny) at the finish line to win the fourth stage of the Vuelta a España.
The stage, featuring a tough 14km climb to Pico Villuercas in intense heat, saw Van Eetvelt celebrate prematurely, raising his arm just as Roglic passed him.
Before this stage, Roglic was 30 seconds behind the overall leader, Wout van Aert. However, Van Aert finished over 16 minutes behind on Tuesday’s 170km route, allowing Roglic to take the overall lead.
