Reading's Bowen Hit with £7,000 Fine Over Gambling Violations.

Mark Bowen, Reading’s head of football operations, has been suspended and fined £7,000 for violating Football Association betting regulations.

Bowen confessed to an independent panel that he bet on 95 football matches unrelated to Reading between April 2022 and January 2024.

The 60-year-old received a 12-week suspension starting July 17, with eight weeks suspended until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Bowen, who briefly managed Reading in 2019-2020 and returned to the club in his current role two years ago, placed some bets while interim manager of AFC Wimbledon from March to May 2022.

The panel noted he wagered £8,450 on these bets, resulting in a loss of £510.98.
