Rain Can't Stop Raducanu: Triumphs Over Stearns Despite Delay.

Emma Raducanu reached the Washington Open quarter-finals, overcoming a two-hour rain delay to defeat American Peyton Stearns.

Emma Raducanu, who opted out of the Olympics to focus on her game, showcased her resilience by defeating Peyton Stearns, ranked 51st in the world, with a 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 victory to advance to the Washington Open quarter-finals.

Heavy rain interrupted Raducanu as she served for the first set, causing a significant delay. Unfazed, she returned to clinch the set in a tie-break. "It's tricky today, when you get rained off at such a big moment like that. It can affect the dynamics of the match," Raducanu remarked.

Raducanu's next challenge will be against the winner of the wildcard Paula Badosa and third seed Liudmila Samsonova match.

Grateful for the support, Raducanu thanked the crowd for their patience during the late-night match.
