Emma Raducanu of Britain was eliminated from the Washington Open by Paula Badosa in the quarter-finals.
Spain's Paula Badosa came back from a set and a break down to defeat Emma Raducanu 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in a thrilling Washington Open quarter-final that lasted nearly three hours.
Badosa, 26, praised Raducanu's performance, saying, "She played amazingly and pushed me to the limit. I had to play aggressively and adjust my game as she was making me miss."
Raducanu initially led in the third set, breaking serve early and saving a break point to go 2-0 up.
However, Badosa, ranked 62nd in the world, broke Raducanu's serve with a double fault and then capitalized on missed opportunities to Raducanu, who is ranked 89th, to secure the win.
