Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven has officially confirmed their head coach, Ruud van Nistelrooy has departed from his role with immediate effect following a lack of support within the club.
Appointed as Roger Schmidt's successor last year, the former Netherlands international has quit after claiming that he no longer felt that he had the support of everyone at the club.
Van Nistelrooy took charge of the first team last July. He had spent a number of years coaching the youth teams at PSV and working with the Dutch national team before then.
In 50 matches across all competitions, Van Nistelrooy oversaw 34 victories, eight draws, and eight defeats. He led PSV to two trophies, the Johan Cruyff Scale and the TOTO KNVB Cup.
His assistant, Fred Rutten, will take charge of the club for Sunday’s final game of the season against AZ Alkmaar.
PSV sit second in the Eredivisie standings, with 72 points from 33 games. They are 10 points behind champions Feyenoord, but three ahead of third-placed Ajax.
